FT006-001 (Batman) project (target antigen: SARS-CoV2 spike protein)

F&T is developing a preventative and therapeutic vaccine for the SARS coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China in 2019.
The vaccine has been designed to target the spike protein of SARS-COV2.

Mode of Action

COVID-19 vaccine (preventive vaccine: development phase)

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which caused the global COVID-19 pandemic, penetrates into the cell using its spike-like protein. Companies like Moderna and Pfiza have released mRNA-based vaccines to date, yet insufficient in terms of the vaccine efficacy and safety.
After expressing a portion of the COVID-19 spike protein on the surface of lactic acid bacteria, it was confirmed that there were no major differences before and after the cell inactivation. We then verified whether the antigen was expressed on the lactic acid bacteria surface, confirming that COVID-19 spike protein was present on the bacterial surface. When a mouse was injected with inactivated FT006-001, SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were identified in the mouse. As we have confirmed the neutralizing ability of the produced antibodies, we are currently preparing disease model mice-based experiments.
